Lion Will Hicks joined the Etowah Lions Club in 2004 by invitation of Lion DC Cantrell. He has served as President of the Etowah Lions Club, District zone Chair for Zone 8—2009-2011 and District Membership Chair, 2010-2011. He has served as Tail Twister, on the Board of Directors, as the chairperson of Leadership Development and on several other committees in the Etowah Lions Club. Lion Will is a Melvin Jones Fellow, Jack Stickley Fellow, William L. Woolard Supporter and has been presented the President Excellence Award. He is a Certified Guiding Lion and helped start a morning business club in Mill’s River. and a recipient of the Membership Key Award. He
is a 2009 graduate of the Senior Lions Leadership Institute and the Southeast Lions Leadership Institute, 2010.
Lion Will is retired from the United States Air Force. He served over 22 years, obtained the rank of E-8, and is a
Vietnam Veteran and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He has a degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology and is a graduate of Pitt Technical Institute, Greenville, NC, where he studied automotive mechanics. He holds an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operators license issued by the FCC. He is a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and serves as a leader member and contest director.
Lion Will is the President of two Radio Control Aircraft Clubs; Asheville and Etowah NC. He is a member of the Henderson
County Amateur Radio Club (BRARC). He owned and operated Will’s CB Shop from 1989-2006.
He is currently employed with the Etowah Lions Services, Inc.; helping to further the Etowah Lions Club service endeavors. He also operates a
family owned engraving and sign making business.
He met and married Lion Debbie Hicks in Michigan. They have been married 27 years. They have four children and six grandchildren.
