Lion Larry became a Lion in 1984 when he joined the Pisgah Forest Lions Club. He has held most club offices, including President (3 times) & 100% Secretary. He has served District 31-A as Zone Chair, Region Chair, Humanitarian/White Cane Chair, Alcohol & Drug Education Chair, William L Woolard "Partner-in Service" Chair, Budget & Finance Chair, Extension Chair, Research & Long Range Planning Chair, Promotions Chair, Fall Convention Chair, District Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer, Public Relations Chair, 100% District Governor. He has served on the Eliada Auction Committee, WNC Lions Board of Directors, Fall Convention Planning Committee, Budget & Finance Committee and Guiding Lion.

Lion Larry has served as MD31 Promotions Chair and Nominating Chair. He has served as State Convention Credentials Chair, State Convention Election Chair.

Lion Larry is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Jack Stickley Fellow and a WLW Partner in Service. He has received the Pisgah Forest Lions Club "Lion of the Year", District 31A "Lion of the Year", District Governors Special Appreciation Award, International Presidents Leadership Award, International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation, 2 Extension Awards, Guiding Lion Award, Joe Silvers Award.

Lion Larry has been married to Lion Paulette for nearly 38 years. They have 2 grown children and a grandson.

They are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Brevard. They live in Pisgah Forest.
